Ladakh's first Yoga Wellness Instructor course launched at NISR, Leh
A three-month (400-hour) Yoga Wellness Instructor Certificate Course – the first of its kind in Ladakh – was launched at the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR), Leh, with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), as reported on 27 July 2026.
Summary
The course follows MDNIY guidelines and is run jointly by MDNIY, New Delhi, and NISR, Leh, under the Ministry of Ayush. It was inaugurated by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Prime Minister's Yoga Awardee and founder-president of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre; NISR Director Dr Padma Gurmet presided and Dr Tashi Thinlas, Director of Ayush, Health & Medical Education, UT Ladakh, was Guest of Honour.
