Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on 5 March 2026 that the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) will be held from 25 March to 6 April 2026 in three Chhattisgarh cities: Raipur, Jagdalpur and Sarguja. The Games will have seven medal sports, namely athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming and wrestling, plus mallakhamb and kabaddi as demonstration sports, with participants from most States and UTs. The logo, theme song and mascot were unveiled at Bilaspur on 23 December in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
