Krishna (Yard 18003), the first of three Cadet Training Ships being built for the Indian Navy, was launched at L&T's Kattupalli shipyard near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on 16 February 2026. Following naval tradition, Mrs Anupama Chauhan launched the ship in the presence of Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan. The ship is indigenously designed and built by L&T, with delivery to the Navy planned for end-2026. The ships will train officer cadets, including women, at sea after their basic training ashore, as well as cadets from friendly foreign countries.
