Eight core industries grow 1.8% in November 2025; cement up 14.5%

The Index of Eight Core Industries rose 1.8% (provisional) in November 2025 over November 2024, with cement, steel, fertilizer and coal recording positive growth, the Commerce Ministry said on 22 December 2025.

The combined Index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) rose 1.8% (provisional) in November 2025 over November 2024, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on 22 December 2025, with cement (14.5%), steel (6.1%), fertilizers (5.6%) and coal (2.1%) posting growth. Crude oil, natural gas, refinery products and electricity declined, and cumulative growth for April–November 2025-26 was 2.4%. The Index of Eight Core Industries (base 2011-12) covers coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertilizers, steel, cement and electricity, which together make up 40.27% of the weight of items in the Index of Industrial Production.
