The Ministry of Education launched the 'Baalpan ki Kavita' initiative on 25 March 2025 to build a compendium of nursery rhymes and poems in all Indian languages and English for young children.

The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, launched the 'Baalpan ki Kavita initiative: Restoring Bhartiya rhymes/poems for young children' on 25 March 2025. In line with NEP 2020's focus on early childhood education and mother-tongue learning, it will prepare a compendium of nursery rhymes and poems in all Indian languages and English, relevant to the Indian context. A contest with MyGov, open from 26 March to 22 April 2025, invites folk or new rhymes in three categories: pre-primary (ages 3–6), Grade 1 (6–7) and Grade 2 (7–8).
