ECMS second tranche: 17 approvals worth ₹7,172 crore; ARKA-GKT1 chip unveiled

The Ministry of Electronics and IT approved 17 more proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) on 17 November 2025, with total investment of ₹7,172 crore, projected production of ₹65,111 crore and 11,808 direct jobs.

Summary

The second ECMS tranche follows seven approvals worth ₹5,532 crore announced earlier, and the units are spread across nine states — Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. They include India's first optical transceiver (SFP) plants, oscillators, laptop and smartwatch enclosures, camera modules, connectors and multi-layer PCBs. Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also launched ARKA-GKT1, a first-generation energy-efficient edge silicon chip jointly developed by Cyient Semiconductors and Azimuth AI, and said ECMS will help take electronics manufacturing to $500 billion by 2030–31.
