The Election Commission of India (ECI) began training Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of political parties on 16 April 2025, a first of its kind programme, in view of forthcoming elections in Bihar. About 280 BLAs from Bihar, associated with 10 recognised political parties, took part in the two-day programme at the India International Institute for Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi addressed them. The training was conceptualised at the Chief Electoral Officers' conference on 4 March 2025. BLAs are appointed by recognised political parties and help ensure error-free electoral rolls under the Representation of the People Act, 1950; they were also trained on first and second appeals under Sections 24(a) and 24(b) of that Act.
