Election Commission doubles annual remuneration of Booth Level Officers

The Election Commission of India (ECI) decided on 2 August 2025 to double the annual remuneration of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 and raise the BLO incentive for electoral roll revision from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000; the remuneration of BLO Supervisors was raised from ₹12,000 to ₹18,000. For the first time, an honorarium of ₹25,000 for Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and ₹30,000 for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) was provided. The previous revision of these rates was done in 2015. The Commission had also approved a special incentive of ₹6,000 for BLOs for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) starting from Bihar.
