DST and AICTE announce undergraduate minor curriculum in quantum technologies

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), announced a dedicated undergraduate curriculum in quantum technologies on 25 December 2024 as part of the National Quantum Mission. DST Secretary Prof. Abhay Karandikar said the curriculum will let all engineering students, whatever their discipline, take a UG minor in quantum technologies from their third or fourth semester. Principal Scientific Adviser Prof. Ajay K. Sood said it combines theory with hands-on lab work. The National Quantum Mission will support teaching labs in select institutions and work with AICTE on faculty development.
