DRDO successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR 120) at its 120 km maximum range at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, on 29 December 2025.

Summary

DRDO successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR 120) at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, on 29 December 2025, testing it to its maximum range of 120 km with all planned in-flight manoeuvres and a precise hit on target. The rocket was designed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, supported by the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat. LRGR 120 was fired from the in-service Pinaka launcher, showing that Pinaka variants of different ranges can be launched from the same launcher; Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh called it a game changer.
