DRDO completes flight tests of Guided Pinaka Weapon System

On 14 November 2024, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said it had successfully completed flight tests of the Guided Pinaka Weapon System as part of Provisional Staff Qualitative Requirements (PSQR) validation trials, conducted in three phases at different field firing ranges. Range, accuracy, consistency and rate of fire in salvo mode were assessed; twelve rockets from each production agency were fired from two upgraded in-service launchers. The precision-strike variant of the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System was designed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment with other DRDO labs. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh said its induction will further boost the artillery's firepower; DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat said it has completed all flight trials needed before induction into the Army.
