DRDO completes user evaluation trials of Akash-NG air defence missile
DRDO announced on 23 December 2025 that it has completed the User Evaluation Trials of the Next Generation Akash (Akash-NG) missile system, paving the way for its induction.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) announced on 23 December 2025 that it has completed the User Evaluation Trials (UET) of the Next Generation Akash (Akash-NG) missile system, in which missiles intercepted aerial targets in both near-boundary low-altitude and long-range high-altitude scenarios. Akash-NG uses an indigenous RF seeker and a solid rocket motor, and its Multi Function Radar, Command and Control Unit and Missile Launch Vehicle were designed by DRDO laboratories with Indian industry. The trials were witnessed by Indian Air Force representatives, and DRDO said their completion paves the way for induction of Akash-NG into the armed forces.
