DRDO opens CBRN field training and demonstration centre at Burari, Delhi
On 6 May 2026 DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat inaugurated a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) field training and demonstration centre at Burari plains in Delhi, part of an upcoming CBRN Centre of Excellence under INMAS.

The Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) field training and demonstration centre of DRDO was opened at Burari plains in Delhi on 6 May 2026 by Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, to improve preparedness for radiological and nuclear emergencies. The centre has a radiological and nuclear test bed, a heavy ion research facility, and emergency medical and real-time field response units. It is part of the upcoming CBRN Centre of Excellence under the Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS) and will train responders from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority and other agencies.
