DoLR clarifies that NAKSHA survey in Goa does not affect land records

On 20 July 2026, the Department of Land Resources and Goa's Directorate of Settlement and Land Records clarified that the NAKSHA pilot survey in Goa leaves existing land titles and records unaffected.

Summary

NAKSHA (National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations), a GIS-based urban land-parcel mapping initiative under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), was the subject of a clarification by the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, with Goa's Directorate of Settlement and Land Records. The clarification said existing property titles, boundaries and land records in Goa remain secure, that rights of non-resident and overseas owners are safeguarded, and that NAKSHA is only a data-mapping exercise, distinct from land acquisition.
