DGCA grants aerodrome licence to Noida International Airport at Jewar

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation granted the aerodrome licence to Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, on 6 March 2026, clearing it for all-weather public-use operations.

Summary

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted the aerodrome licence for Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, to Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) on 6 March 2026. YIAPL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG and developed the airport under a PPP model with the Uttar Pradesh and Central governments; the 40-year concession began on 1 October 2021. The airport is licensed in the Public Use category for all-weather operations, with a 3,900 m × 45 m runway (10/28), an Instrument Landing System for 24×7 operations and ARFF Category 9 facilities able to handle wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777-300ER. Phase 1, with one runway and one terminal, will handle about 12 million passengers a year, rising to 70 million after all four phases. PIB noted that India's operational airports have grown from 74 in 2014 to 164.
