The Department of Posts released a set of eight commemorative postage stamps on 'Puppets of India' at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on 13 February 2026. Secretary (Posts) Vandita Kaul released the stamps. Each shows a traditional puppetry form: Kathputli (Rajasthan), Yakshagana Sutrada Gombeyatta (Karnataka), Daanger Putul and Benir Putul (West Bengal), Kathi Kundhei and Ravanachhaya (Odisha), Pavakathakali (Kerala) and Tolu Bommalatta (Andhra Pradesh). Indian puppetry is broadly classified into four forms: string, glove, rod and shadow puppets. The stamps were designed by Sankha Samanta, with artistic references from the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
