The Deepavali inscription was adopted in the presence of Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and delegates from 194 Member States. Shekhawat said the festival carries the message of 'Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya', the journey from darkness to light, and credited potters, artisans, farmers, sweet makers and the Indian diaspora for keeping the tradition alive.
