DBT and Assam sign first Centre–State partnership MoU under the BioE3 Policy

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Government of Assam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 12 March 2025 — the first Centre–State partnership under the BioE3 Policy — to promote biomanufacturing in Assam.

The Department of Biotechnology and the Government of Assam signed an MoU under the BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment and Employment) Policy at DBT headquarters in New Delhi on 12 March 2025. It is the first Centre–State partnership of its kind under the BioE3 framework. DBT will provide guidance and facilitate partnerships, while Assam will set up a State BioE3 Cell and implement an Assam BioE3 Action Plan, already approved by the State Cabinet. The BioE3 Policy, approved by the Union Cabinet on 24 August 2024, aims to make India a global leader in bio-based innovation through high-performance biomanufacturing, supported by biofoundries, biomanufacturing hubs and Bio-AI hubs.
