DAC clears proposals worth ₹2.38 lakh crore, including S-400 and Medium Transport Aircraft

On 27 March 2026 the Defence Acquisition Council chaired by Rajnath Singh granted Acceptance of Necessity for proposals worth about ₹2.38 lakh crore for the Army, Air Force and Coast Guard.

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) on 27 March 2026 for proposals worth about ₹2.38 lakh crore. For the Army it cleared the Air Defence Tracked System, Armoured Piercing Tank Ammunition, High Capacity Radio Relay, Dhanush Gun System and Runway Independent Aerial Surveillance System. For the Air Force it cleared Medium Transport Aircraft to replace the AN-32 and IL-76 fleets, the S-400 long-range surface-to-air missile system, Remotely Piloted Strike Aircraft and overhaul of Su-30 aero-engine aggregates. The Coast Guard got AoN for Heavy Duty Air Cushion Vehicles. In 2025-26 the DAC has accorded AoN for 55 proposals worth ₹6.73 lakh crore, the highest in any year.
