CSIR–NIIST Thiruvananthapuram marks Golden Jubilee; new Innovation Centre inaugurated
On 15 October 2025 at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Building and Innovation Centre of CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology at the close of its 50th-anniversary programme.

On 15 October 2025 at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Union Science Minister Dr Jitendra Singh addressed the grand finale of the Golden Jubilee programme of CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), set up 50 years ago to harness the natural resources of the southern peninsula. He inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Building and the CSIR–NIIST Innovation Centre for turning research into products and startups, and said NIIST has laid foundations for Centres of Excellence in Ayurveda Research and in Performance Chemicals and Sustainable Polymers. He noted that the Kerala government allotted land at Thonnakkal for a proposed innovation centre in the Bio 360 Life Sciences Park, that NIIST has transferred 28 technologies, and that India's Global Innovation Index rank improved from 81 in 2014 to 38 this year.
