Health Ministry's pan-India CPR Awareness Week trains over 6 lakh people in compression-only CPR

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare held a pan-India CPR Awareness Week from 13 to 17 October 2025, giving hands-on compression-only CPR training to 6,06,374 people and reaching over 7.47 lakh citizens.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organised a pan-India CPR Awareness Week from 13 to 17 October 2025 to promote compression-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early bystander help during cardiac arrest, since India's bystander CPR rates remain below global standards. States and UTs, central hospitals, AIIMS, Institutes of National Importance, the Indian Red Cross Society and professional bodies trained 6,06,374 people. 14,701 people joined the opening live demonstration, 79,870 took a digital pledge on MyGov, 36,040 took a CPR quiz on MyGov and MyBharat, and 368 youths volunteered through 'Volunteer for Bharat'. In all, over 7,47,000 citizens were engaged; 70 PMO officials got special training on 16 October.
