Retail inflation rises to 6.21% in October 2024

On 12 November 2024, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation said all-India year-on-year inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (base 2012=100) was 6.21% in October 2024, with rural and urban rates of 6.68% and 5.62%. Consumer Food Price Index inflation was 10.87% (provisional), 10.69% rural and 11.09% urban. Housing inflation was 2.81%. The ministry said high food inflation was mainly due to vegetables, while pulses, eggs, sugar and spices saw a significant decline in inflation.
