CPI inflation falls to 0.25% in October 2025, lowest in the current series
All-India retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell to a provisional 0.25% in October 2025, the lowest year-on-year rate in the current CPI series (base 2012=100), MoSPI said on 12 November 2025.
Summary
October's CPI headline inflation was 119 basis points lower than in September 2025, and food inflation measured by the Consumer Food Price Index fell to −5.02%, also the lowest of the current series. MoSPI attributed the fall mainly to the full month's impact of lower GST, a favourable base effect and lower inflation in oils and fats, vegetables, fruits, eggs, footwear, cereals, and transport and communication. Rural headline inflation was −0.25% and urban headline inflation 0.88%.
