CPI inflation falls to 3.16% in April 2025, lowest since July 2019
All-India CPI inflation was 3.16% (provisional) in April 2025, the lowest year-on-year rate since July 2019, and food inflation fell to 1.78%, the lowest since October 2021, MoSPI said on 13 May 2025.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation said on 13 May 2025 that year-on-year inflation based on the All India Consumer Price Index (base 2012=100) was 3.16% (provisional) in April 2025, 18 basis points lower than in March and the lowest since July 2019. Food inflation based on the Consumer Food Price Index was 1.78%, down 91 basis points from March and the lowest since October 2021. Rural headline inflation was 2.92% and urban 3.36%. The decline was mainly due to lower inflation in vegetables, pulses, fruits, meat and fish, personal care and cereals.
