President releases Constitution of India in Santhali (Ol Chiki script)

President Droupadi Murmu released the Constitution of India in the Santhali language, in the Ol Chiki script, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 25 December 2025.

Summary

President Droupadi Murmu released the Constitution of India in the Santhali language, written in the Ol Chiki script, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on 25 December 2025. The Santhali translation was published for the first time by the Legislative Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice and was released on Good Governance Day, in the centenary year of the Ol Chiki script developed by Pandit Raghunath Murmu in 1925. Santhali was added to the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution by the 92nd Amendment Act, 2003, and is spoken by many tribal people in Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar.
