On 5 December 2024, in New Delhi, Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy launched the 11th round of commercial coal mine auctions with 27 coal blocks across Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh, including one coking coal mine. The Ministry also executed 9 agreements with successful bidders of the 10th round. The Minister cited the Rs 8,500 crore scheme for coal and lignite gasification and the target of 100 million tonnes of coal gasification by 2030.
