On 18 November 2024 at The Orangery, Kensington Palace, London, Coal India Ltd (CIL) received the Green World Environment Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility category, along with the title of Green World Ambassador. The award, given by The Green Organisation, recognised CIL's Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojna, which has funded curative bone marrow transplants for more than 600 thalassemia patients. In 2017 CIL became the first PSU to take up a CSR project for curative treatment of thalassemia through BMT, providing up to ₹10 lakh per transplant. Director (Personnel/IR) Vinay Ranjan received the award.
