On 10 November 2024 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi, Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal launched the 'EV as a Service' programme of Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), and flagged off an EV rally. The programme aims to deploy 5,000 e-cars in Central and State government ministries, departments, CPSEs and institutions over the next two years through a flexible procurement model. CESL has already deployed nearly 2,000 e-cars and is facilitating about 17,000 e-buses. CESL said the launch follows the recent introduction of the PM E-DRIVE scheme.
