The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met in New Delhi on the evening of 1 March 2026 to review the evolving situation in West Asia. It was briefed on the air strikes in Iran on 28 February and the escalation that followed, including attacks in several Gulf countries. The CCS expressed serious concern for the large Indian expatriate community, reviewed difficulties faced by Indian travellers transiting the region and by students due to sit scheduled exams, and directed all departments to assist affected Indian nationals. It called for an early end to hostilities and a return to dialogue and diplomacy. The same day, Modi spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and thanked him for caring for the Indian community.
