CCEA approves two rail multitracking projects of ₹24,815 crore in Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on 18 April 2026 approved 3rd and 4th lines on Ghaziabad–Sitapur and Rajahmundry (Nidadavolu)–Visakhapatnam (Duvvada), adding about 601 km to Indian Railways at about ₹24,815 crore.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18 April 2026 approved two Indian Railways multitracking projects costing about ₹24,815 crore, to be completed by 2030-31. The Ghaziabad–Sitapur 3rd and 4th line covers 403 route km at ₹14,926 crore, and the Rajahmundry (Nidadavolu)–Visakhapatnam (Duvvada) 3rd and 4th line in Andhra Pradesh covers 198 route km at ₹9,889 crore. Together they span 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh and add about 601 route km (1,317 track km). Ghaziabad–Sitapur is part of the Delhi–Guwahati High Density Network (HDN 4), with capacity utilisation of up to 168%. The projects are planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
