The 1,200 MW Kalai-II project on the Lohit river in Anjaw district will cost ₹14,105.83 crore, take about 78 months and generate 4,852.95 MU a year; it is the first hydro project in the Lohit basin and will be built by a joint venture of THDC India Limited and the state government. The 1,720 MW Kamala project in Kamle, Kra Daadi and Kurung Kumey districts will cost ₹26,069.50 crore, take about 96 months and generate 6,870 MU; it will be built by a joint venture of NHPC Limited and the state government, with ₹4,743.98 crore of central support for flood moderation in the Brahmaputra valley. For both, the state will get 12% free power plus 1% for a Local Area Development Fund, along with ₹750 crore of central assistance towards its equity.
