CCEA approves Tato-I (186 MW) and Heo (240 MW) hydro projects in Arunachal's Shi Yomi district

On 25 November 2024 in New Delhi, the CCEA approved investments of ₹1,750 crore for the 186 MW Tato-I and ₹1,939 crore for the 240 MW Heo hydroelectric projects in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Summary

On 25 November 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by PM Narendra Modi approved two hydroelectric projects in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh, each with an estimated completion period of 50 months. The Tato-I project (186 MW, 3 x 62 MW) will cost ₹1,750 crore and produce 802 million units; the Heo project (240 MW, 3 x 80 MW) will cost ₹1,939 crore and produce 1,000 million units. Both will be built by a joint venture of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, with central budgetary support of ₹77.37 crore (Tato-I) and ₹127.28 crore (Heo) for roads, bridges and transmission lines. The State will get 12% free power plus 1% for the Local Area Development Fund.
