CCEA approves four railway multitracking projects worth ₹11,169 crore

On 31 July 2025, the CCEA approved four railway multitracking projects costing about ₹11,169 crore, adding about 574 km across 13 districts in six States.

Summary

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved on 31 July 2025 four Railway projects with a total cost of about ₹11,169 crore: the Itarsi–Nagpur 4th line, the Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar)–Parbhani doubling, the Aluabari Road–New Jalpaiguri 3rd and 4th lines, and the Dangoaposi–Jaroli 3rd and 4th lines. The projects cover 13 districts in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand, will add about 574 km to the network, and are to be completed by 2028-29. Planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, they will improve connectivity to about 2,309 villages with a population of about 43.60 lakh and generate about 229 lakh human-days of direct employment during construction.
