The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) issued an amendment dated 3 August 2026 to its Statutory Direction No. 86 to strengthen enforcement of dust mitigation measures at construction and demolition (C&D) sites with plot area below 500 sq m across the National Capital Region. The amendment extends powers to prosecute gross violators to additional municipal corporations, development authorities, municipal councils and urban local bodies in NCR. Direction No. 86, issued on 2 January 2025, had earlier empowered authorities of MCD, NDMC and ULBs in Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Sonipat.
