Cabinet approves PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana for 100 districts over six years

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana on 16 July 2025, for six years beginning 2025-26, to cover 100 districts. The scheme, announced in the Budget 2025-26, draws inspiration from NITI Aayog's Aspirational District Programme and is the first of its kind to focus only on agriculture and allied sectors. The scheme will be run through convergence of 36 existing schemes across 11 departments, State schemes and private partnerships. Districts will be picked on three indicators: low productivity, low cropping intensity and less credit disbursement, with at least one district from each state. A District Dhan Dhaanya Samiti will finalise the district plan, and progress will be tracked monthly on 117 key performance indicators through a dashboard.
