The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by PM Narendra Modi, approved a 4-lane access-controlled greenfield and brownfield corridor from Patna to Sasaram via Arrah (120.10 km) in Bihar on 28 March 2025. It will be built on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) at a capital cost of ₹3,712.40 crore and includes 10.6 km of upgraded brownfield highway. Travel now relies on state highways SH-2, SH-12, SH-81 and SH-102 and takes 3–4 hours. The corridor links NH-19, NH-319, NH-922, NH-131G and NH-120, two airports (Patna and the upcoming Bihta airport), four major railway stations and the Patna inland water terminal.
