Cabinet approves four railway projects worth ₹12,328 crore, including a new line in Kutch

The Union Cabinet on 27 August 2025 approved four railway projects costing about ₹12,328 crore, including a new Kutch line and multi-tracking projects in Karnataka, Telangana, Bihar and Assam.

The Union Cabinet approved four Railway Ministry projects with a total cost of about ₹12,328 crore on 27 August 2025, adding 565 route km to the network. The Deshalpar–Hajipir–Luna and Vayor–Lakhpat new line (145 route km, ₹2,526 crore) will connect the Rann of Kutch, the Harappan site Dholavira, Koteshwar temple, Narayan Sarovar and Lakhpat fort with 13 new stations. The multi-tracking projects are the Secunderabad (Sanathnagar)–Wadi 3rd and 4th line across Karnataka and Telangana (173 km), the Bhagalpur–Jamalpur 3rd line in Bihar (53 km) and the Furkating–New Tinsukia doubling in Assam (194 km), together serving about 3,108 villages and the aspirational district of Kalaburagi.
