Cabinet approves ₹1,789.52-crore Intelligent Traffic Management System for Delhi
On 30 September 2026 the CCEA approved an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) for Delhi, to be implemented by Delhi Police at ₹1,789.52 crore across 42 traffic corridors in three phases over 24 months.
Summary
The ITMS project will bring AI-enabled adaptive traffic signals, automated enforcement and real-time traffic information to Delhi, which has around 71 lakh active registered vehicles. It covers 42 corridors, 1,092 Adaptive Traffic Control System locations and 1,029 enforcement locations, with five years of operation and maintenance after the 24-month rollout. The system will give priority movement to ambulances and help Delhi Police respond faster to congestion and incidents.
