Cabinet approves 4-lane Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram section of NH-87 in Tamil Nadu

On 1 July 2025 in New Delhi, the Union Cabinet approved a 46.7-km 4-lane Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram section of NH-87 in Tamil Nadu on Hybrid Annuity Mode at a capital cost of ₹1,853 crore.

The Union Cabinet approved on 1 July 2025 the construction of the 4-lane Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram section (46.7 km) of National Highway 87 in Tamil Nadu, to be developed on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) at a total capital cost of ₹1,853 crore. The upgrade will decongest the existing 2-lane corridor linking Madurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Mandapam, Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi, and integrates with five national highways and three state highways in southern Tamil Nadu.
