C-DOT and Synergy Quantum sign MoU to develop drone-based Quantum Key Distribution

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) signed an MoU with Synergy Quantum India on 12 May 2025 to jointly develop drone-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems at Technology Readiness Level 6 or above.

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the telecom R&D institution under the Department of Telecommunications, signed an MoU with Synergy Quantum India Private Limited, the Ministry of Communications said on 12 May 2025. The partners will develop drone-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems using the decoy-based BB84 protocol with polarisation encoding, at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 or above. The collaboration also covers joint research proposals, publications and expert talks. C-DOT CEO Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay spoke at the signing.
