Bullet train: MT-07 mountain tunnel breakthrough in Palghar on 1 June 2026

On 1 June 2026, NHSRCL achieved the breakthrough of the 417-metre Mountain Tunnel-07 at Ambesari village, Dahanu taluka, Palghar district, Maharashtra, for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project.

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) achieved the breakthrough of Mountain Tunnel-07 (MT-07) at Ambesari village in Dahanu taluka of Palghar district, Maharashtra, on 1 June 2026, for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project. The tunnel is 417 metres long and 14.4 metres wide, built to carry both up and down tracks, and was excavated by controlled drilling and blasting from both ends. It is the third mountain tunnel breakthrough in Maharashtra in five months, after MT-05 (1.5 km) on 2 January 2026 and MT-06 (454 m) on 3 February 2026. With MT-07, all three mountain tunnels between the Vapi and Boisar stations (MT-08, MT-07 and MT-06) are excavated. The project has eight mountain tunnels, seven in Palghar district and one in Valsad district of Gujarat.
