Bihar's railway outlay rises nearly ninefold to ₹10,066 crore in 2025-26

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on 23 July 2025 that the outlay for railway infrastructure and safety works in Bihar is ₹10,066 crore in 2025-26, nearly nine times the ₹1,132 crore a year of 2009-14. Bihar saw 1,899 km of new track commissioned in 2014-25, against 318 km in 2009-14, and 52 railway projects worth ₹86,107 crore have been sanctioned. Recently completed works include the Munger (19 km, ₹2,774 crore), Patna (40 km, ₹3,555 crore) and Kosi (22 km, ₹516 crore) bridges. Twenty of the 144 Vande Bharat trains in operation and 10 of the 14 Amrit Bharat Express services cater to Bihar.
