On 24 October 2025, the Department of Commerce held a curtain raiser for the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2025, to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 30–31 October 2025. The Indian Rice Exporters' Federation (IREF) is organising it with APEDA. Organisers aim to open ₹1.80 lakh crore in new rice markets and sign ₹25,000 crore worth of export MoUs. India produced about 150 million tonnes of rice in 2024–25 from nearly 47 million hectares, about 28% of global output, and exported 20.1 million tonnes in FY 2024–25 to over 172 countries. Foreign Ministers of the Philippines, Ghana, Namibia and The Gambia are to attend. The conference will be held every year from now on.
