The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) released the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2024 on 29 August 2025, developed with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) and assessing 36 States and UTs for FY 2023-24. The sixth edition uses 66 indicators across buildings, industry, municipal services, transport, agriculture, DISCOMs and cross-sector initiatives, and classes States as Front Runners, Achievers, Contenders and Aspirants. Maharashtra (Group 1), Andhra Pradesh (Group 2), Assam (Group 3) and Tripura (Group 4) were the top performers, and the report notes 24 States have notified ECBC 2017 and Kerala has 74% adoption of solar-powered agricultural pumps.
