It is based on the Integrated Sample Survey for 1 March 2023 to 29 February 2024. Milk production in 2023-24 was 239.30 million tonnes, up 3.78% over 2022-23 (146.3 million tonnes in 2014-15). Uttar Pradesh had the largest share (16.21%), followed by Rajasthan (14.51%), Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Egg production was 142.77 billion, led by Andhra Pradesh (17.85%); meat 10.25 million tonnes, led by West Bengal (12.62%); wool 33.69 million kg, led by Rajasthan (47.53%). India leads the world in milk production and is 2nd in eggs.
