Mizoram's Bairabi–Sairang railway line completes one year with over 15 lakh passengers
On 13 September 2026, the Ministry of Railways marked one year of the 51.38 km Bairabi–Sairang railway line, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13 September 2025, which brought Mizoram's capital region onto the national rail network.

The Bairabi–Sairang railway line in Mizoram, inaugurated with Sairang station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13 September 2025, completed one year with its train services carrying over 15 lakh passengers on more than 1,100 trips. Three long-distance services link Sairang, near Aizawl, with Guwahati, Kolkata and Delhi, including the Sairang–Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express, Mizoram's first direct premium link with the national capital. The 51.38 km line has 153 bridges, six of them over 70 m tall and the tallest 114 m high. The first goods train reached Sairang on 14 September 2025 with more than 26,000 bags of cement, and the first parcel, Anthurium flowers for Delhi, was booked on 19 September 2025.
