An agreement between the Ministry of Ayush and the World Health Organization (WHO) was signed on 24 May 2025, marking the start of work on a dedicated Traditional Medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI), the Ministry of Ayush said. ICHI complements WHO's International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) by documenting treatments and health interventions. With the module, therapies from Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha and Unani — such as Panchakarma, Yoga therapy, Unani regimens and Siddha procedures — will be recognised in globally standardised terms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the agreement in Mann Ki Baat on 25 May.
