Animal Welfare Board of India and NALSAR sign MoU to train animal welfare representatives

NALSAR will assess trainees for AWBI's Honorary Animal Welfare Representative certification.

Summary

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), a statutory body under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, signed an MoU with NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad, Telangana, on 9 January 2025. The partnership will give legal training in animal welfare laws, procedures and investigative techniques to applicants for Honorary Animal Welfare Representative (HAWR) roles, in batches of up to 25 for at least three days. AWBI will issue HAWR certifications based on NALSAR's assessments. AWBI also announced an Animal Welfare Fortnight from 14 to 30 January 2025.
