The eighth meeting of the National Level Steering Committee (NLSC) for the Atal Bhujal Yojana was held in New Delhi on 30 June 2025, chaired by Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. Officers of participating states, ministries, the World Bank and the NPMU attended. The Secretary urged mainstreaming the scheme across the country, scaling up successful pilots and making water budgeting mandatory in all Gram Panchayats. The Atal Bhujal Yojana is a community-led groundwater management scheme implemented in seven states: Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh (static).
