ASUSE 2027-28 to move to financial year (April-March) and capture women entrepreneurs' constraints for the first time

On 26 October 2026, MoSPI announced that the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2027-28 will run from April 2027 to March 2028, shifting from the calendar year to the financial year.

Summary

The National Statistics Office (NSO) of MoSPI said the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) will shift from the calendar year to the financial year, with ASUSE 2027-28 to be conducted from April 2027 to March 2028. The change aligns ASUSE with other enterprise surveys such as the Annual Survey of Industries and aids National Accounts; the January-March 2027 quarter will be covered using the existing ASUSE 2026 schedule. For the first time, the survey will capture gender-specific constraints faced by women entrepreneurs, and it will add questions on electricity sources, longer-period fixed-asset investment and, at the Ministry of Textiles' request, handloom, power-loom and handicraft units. NSO has conducted ASUSE since 2021-22.
